Cocktail of the Week: Spiked Hot Chocolate

Earlier this week I had lunch with a co-worker and we each ordered a hot chocolate like we were 5 years old again. I thoroughly enjoyed it but thought to myself that if I would have enjoyed it a lot more if there was booze in it. I mean, who doesn’t love chocolate and liquor? So in honor of my lunch date, I give you spiked hot chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. spirit or liqueur of your choice (rum, bourbon, peppermint schnapps, the list goes on and on …)
  • 6 oz. hot milk
  • 2 oz. finely chopped semisweet chocolate
  • Mini marshmallows for garnish

Add the chopped chocolate to an Irish coffee mug. Add the hot milk, let it stand for two minutes, and then stir with a spoon until its smooth and well blended. Pour in spirit or liqueur of your choice and stir. Top with mini marshmallows and celebrate being able to be a kid again while also being an adult. Cheers!
